Oriental pied hornbills, that were once thought to be extinct in Singapore, can now be seen throughout the island.
Currently, around 100 hornbills are thought to be roaming around Singapore thanks to the efforts of NParks and its partners, National University of Singapore and Nanyang technological university.
Although 100 is a relatively small number, the hornbill population in Singapore is quite significant as it demonstrates how it is possible to maintain a stable population of a large bird species in an urban setting.
